☆ At least 13 people injured in building fire in Spanish city of Valencia

CNN —At least 13 people have been injured in a large blaze that ripped through an apartment building in the Spanish city of Valencia, local emergency services said Thursday. Valencia’s Emergency Services said on X, formerly known as Twitter, that six firefighters and seven residents were among those treated for injuries in several hospitals across the city. ET] in Valencia’s Campanar neighborhood, and 16 firefighting units were sent to the scene, emergency services told CNN en Espanol. The fire continued into the evening, with flames and smoke pictured billowing through the complex. Hotel rooms were being organized to house people whose homes were affected by the fire, emergency services said.

CNN —Spain’s National Court has admitted the complaint made against former soccer chief Luis Rubiales for “the crimes of sexual assault and coercion” by Spanish prosecutors, according to a court press release issued on Monday. The admittance of the prosecutor’s complaint – part of the Spanish legal process – allows the court to begin gathering evidence, which could lead to possible charges against Rubiales, who resigned from his position as president of country’s soccer federation (RFEF) on Sunday. Jenni Hermoso filed an official complaint with Spanish prosecutors last week, which has now been accepted by the National Court. The unwanted kiss on Hermoso sparked condemnation in Spain and led to widespread calls for Rubiales to resign from his role as RFEF president. Jorge Vilda was fired as head coach of the Spanish women's team in a series of "regeneration" changes being made by RFEF.

CNN —Luis de la Fuente, the manager of the Spanish men’s national team, has apologized for visibly applauding the speech of beleaguered soccer chief Luis Rubiales at an assembly last Friday. De la Fuente was seen clapping at the event in the front row of the assembly on August 25, alongside women’s national team coach Jorge Vilda, who was doing the same. I believe that criticism was deserved, I understand it and I apologize,” de la Fuente continued, adding that he would not be resigning despite facing criticism for his apparent show of support. I’ve made reference to it before: I’m on the side of equality and respect.”When reporters asked why his response had taken so long, de la Fuente apologized further. “It was a human mistake, I was under a lot of psychological pressure and I am sorry,” he said.
